Slip stitch (US) / single crochet (UK)
The slip stitch is the shortest, closest and tightest stitch with crochet.
You use the slip stitch to:
- crochet borders
- crochet elastic cuffs
- To connect other stitches to each other
Border:
Turn your work and go into the first stitch and get the yarn over.
Now you have two loops on the hook.
Pull the first loop through the second loop.
Done!
*Get the hook into the next stitch,
Yarn over. Now you have two loops on the hook.
Pull the first loop through the second.*
Repeat from * to * a couple of times
To crochet elastic cuffs, turn the work and repeat the row.
Connect two stitches:
Crochet some chains,
Get with the needle into the first stitch of the chain,
Get yarn over,
Pull through both loops.
Done!
