Size
The balloon Cover is approx. 30 cm high when not filled. And depending on how big the balloon is blow up approx. 38 cm high and has a diameter of approx. 30 cm.
Material:
5 mm knitting needles
You can use either 4 – 5 Double Pointed knitting needles or circular knitting needles and work with the Magic Loop.
You will need approx. 100 gr DK yarn (weight 3)
The Balloon is knitted with two DK yarn threads held together.
If you choose to use different weighted yarn to achieve a different size for the ball make sure to adjust the needle size as well.
1 normal Balloo
Abbreviations: (I use US Terms)
ST: Stitch
P: Purl
K: Knit
Inc: Increase
Dec: Decrease

You can work this pattern in any other yarn weight but keep in mind that it will affect the end size and might be too small or too big for a balloon. If you work one with only one strand of thread it might be big enough for a smaller ballon. Always make sure to check the needle size needed if the thread weight is changed.
This Balloon covers create super fun toys for kids, the Balloon is heavier with them but not as heavy as a ball and makes them super fun and pouncy to play with. My kids love to play with them and are occupied for hours.

Infos for the pattern (Important to read):
You work the Increases as a KFSB (Knit Front Slip Back) that’s worked as follows: knit the stitch as normal but leave it on the left needle and slip the stitch of the needle through the back loop. The stitch has doubled with this.
The decreases are worked as SSK (slip slip knit) that’s worked as follows: slip 2 stitches to the right needle, slip them back to the left needle and knit them together through the back loop.
I would suggest using 6 stitch markers, one in a different Color for the round beginning and 5 more for all sections as this piece has repetitions of 6 in each round. I would set the markers in the second round. One at the beginning and always one marker after 2 stitches. It just makes it easier to work the following rounds with the increases and decreases.
I tried to write the pattern as beginner friendly as possible, if you have any questions or issues during knitting, I’m more than happy to help. Eiter via a comment here or via a private message.
