The pre-Christmas season is a time full of joy, festive spirit, and thoughtful gifts. During this reflective time, you want to choose special presents and wrap them in a creative and appealing way. How about presenting your gift in a charming Santa pants? This original gift wrapping is not only a real eye-catcher but also brings the whole family together—not just in front of the Christmas tree!
But that's not all: the Santa pants also make an excellent decorative element for your Christmas table. Imagine how they cheerfully sit among candles and pine branches, creating a festive atmosphere. And the best part: they offer plenty of space for sweet treats! Fill the pants with chocolate, cookies, or other small goodies and let your guests and family immerse themselves in the Christmas spirit.
This blog is about how you can create this fun wrapping. Whether for the kids, your partner, or dear friends—the Santa pants will bring shining eyes and smiles to the faces of your loved ones. Let's get creative together, make the anticipation for the celebration even greater, and connect everything with love!
What you will need:
- About 1 roll of ribbon yarn in red and some in black or dark gray (I used Java from World of Yarn)
- White chenille yarn (e.g., Friedas #2)
- 1 wooden ring in your desired size
And here's how to do it:
First, crochet the two legs of the pants individually. These will later be crocheted together, completing the upper part of the pants as one piece.
For one leg:
1. Round 1: Crochet six single crochets into a magic ring (6)
2. Round 2: Double each stitch (12)
3. Round 3: Double every second stitch (18)
4. Round 4: Double every third stitch (24)
5. Round 5: Double every fourth stitch (30)
6. Round 6: Double every fifth stitch (36)
Rounds 7-9: 36 single crochets worked only into the back loop (36)
Rounds 10-12: 36 single crochets (36)
Then, hold the two legs directly next to each other and crochet six single crochets through both pieces to join the legs together.
Finish Round 13 by crocheting 60 additional single crochets around the outside of both legs (make sure to skip the already crocheted stitches that joined them together).
Rounds 14-19: 60 single crochets (60)
Finish the last round with a slip stitch, pull the yarn through, and weave in the ends.
Now the white lower ends need to be created. To do this, insert the white chenille yarn into the last remaining front loop of the stitches that were previously crocheted in the back loop, and crochet 36 single crochets. Make sure to hold the pants with the legs facing upward!
In the second and third rounds, insert the hook into both the single crochet and the respective remaining front loop, and crochet with single crochets.
Finally, you just need to crochet the belt with the corresponding openings for threading into the pants.
For the belt, crochet a chain of 80-85 chain stitches, then make two rows back and forth with single crochets and one turning chain each time. The number of stitches can vary based on your preferences and how tightly you crochet—please measure by wrapping the belt around the pants.
The belt buckle is quite easy to create. Simply place the wooden ring over one end of the belt, thread the belt through, and sew it securely on the other side.
Finally, you need to crochet the small pieces (3 times) that will hold the pants in place. For this, just crochet 5 chain stitches and then work back and forth for four rows with four single crochets and one turning chain.
Finally, sew on the belt loops, thread the belt through, and you’ve connected everything with love.
