MATERIALS AND TOOLS
✓ Main yarn for the main parts – I used approximately 125 g of yellow “Lotus Travka Stretch” by Kamteks (70% acrylic, 28% polyamide, 2% lycra) that has approximately 80 m in a 50 g skein).
Tip: You can use any moderately fluffy yarn (wool, acrylic, etc). The thicker the yarn, the bigger your toy will be. See the gauge section. If you need exactly the same yarn visit this shop
✓ Additional yarn for the legs – I used small amount of beige “Coco” by Vita (100% cotton, 240m/50g) (see Gauge section)
✓ Matching crochet hooks. I used 3 mm crochet hook for the main yarn and 1.3 mm steel crochet hook for the additional yarn.
✓ Strong thread of matching colors for needle sculpting.
✓ Transparent glue.
✓ Stuffing.
✓ A pair of ready-made eyes – I used 16 mm half beads.
✓ Brown polymer clay and varnish to make the beak or a ready-made beak.
✓ Brush or Velcro to brush up the toy.
✓ Scissors.
✓ Any material for tinting (optional) – oil pastels, oil paints, pencils, etc.
✓ Transparent glue.
✓ Single core copper PVC electrical wire – I used wire approximately 200 cm/78.7 inches long 2-2.5 mm in diameter.
✓ Fabric tape approximately 1 cm wide to work up the wire ends (optional).
✓ A piece of white felt for the whites of the eyes.
✓ a piece of satin ribbon to make a bow (optional).
To make the skirt:
✓ Veil fabric – I used veil fabric 5 cm wide. You can use veil material (or tulle) of any width and length. You will need to make the stripes 5 cm/2 inches wide and 13 cm/5.1 inches long for the toy measuring 25 cm/9.8 inches tall. The amount of such strips depends on the size of your toy and on how full the skirt will be.
✓ A piece of satin ribbon – I used 60 cm/23.6 inches of satin ribbon 1 cm wide.
