Numerous detailed photos
Following my tutorial what you will get is a cute 3D bullfinch brooch. It has a fastener on the back and will look gorgeous on winter clothing, be it a coat collar, jumper, scarf, or a hat and a cap. It may also add a nice little touch to the clothes of your child. Provided you use fine yarn like mohair, angora, wool 450 m/100 g, the brooch will be approximately 7 cm long. Should you decide to use thicker yarn, the finished size of the brooch will be bigger. You may also turn it into a keyring or a pendant for your handbag.
Crocheting level - intermediate.
Materials
Same thickness yarn (acrylic, mohair, angora, wool, etc). Depending on the thickness of the yarn its consumption and a finished brooch size may differ. I used acrylic/wool yarn 450 m/100 g. The size of my bullfinch is 7cm.
Red 10 g,
Black 7 g,
White and grey about 2-3 m each
A crochet hook, I used 1mm crochet hook.
Hollow fiber toy/cushion filling
Grey/Black polymer clay or self-hardening clay – small amount for the beak
All purpose clear transparent glue, e.g. UHU
2 beads for eyes or ready - made eyes, I used 8 mm beads
A sewing needle, a long needle for sculpting
Black and red sewing thread
Black or grey piece of felt
Dry soft pastels or any other suitable means for tinting (dark red or grey)
A thin piece of plastic, that you can easily pierce with a needle (e.g. Pringles crisps tube lid)
Brooch base (fastener)
Adhesive Backed Hoop & Loop tape to brush crocheted parts
