At first I only offered this manual in German, but then I was asked again and again if I could write it also in English. That's what I did now. But since English is not my mother tongue, I ask for your indulgence, if one or the other mistake should have crept in.
This beautiful mochila is not just a "crocheted bag" or a "crocheted bagpack". It is crocheted in the original Wayuu technique and is so stable that it stands upright by itself. The adjustable shoulder strap can also be used as a cross-body strap so that you have both hands free for important things while shopping or wherever you want to use your mochila. You will be envied for your mochila!
I designed the Mochila "Anki" from photos taken during an African holiday. I was so fascinated by the motif "African burkeas/elephants/sunset" that I thought I should crochet a mochila out of it. This is the result.
This pattern is designed for those who already have experience crocheting a mochila using the Wayuu technique.
It is not a complete pattern for the inexperienced. If you have little or no experience crocheting mochilas but want to crochet this bag, or if you find out that your previous knowledge is not enough, contact me. I will be happy to help you and I am sure that you will reach your aim.
The pattern includes:
Requirements:
Advanced knowledge of crocheting a mochila in the Wayuu technique. You should be able to do the following:
Size:
diameter: ca. 25 cm
hight: ca. 29 cm
length of shoulder strap: ca. 1,30 m
Yarn/equipment:
a) Pro Lana „Basic Cotton“
(100% cotton, mercerized, gassed, barrel length 125m/50g, needle size 3,0 - 3,5)
