I have designed this easy boho crochet cushion cover pattern with basic crochet stitches using US terminology of chains, single crochet and the puff stitch. It is not complicated but still has an overall affect of looking fabulous. For UK and Australian crocheters there is a stitch conversion for you. I have also included a handy written and visual tutorial on the puff stitch.
The textured design is featured on the front of the cushion and the back of the cushion is plain and closes with 3 natural wooden buttons in the centre.
All my patterns are written in my own unique style giving you step by step instructions with large images at each stage so you can track your progress visually as well. I would recommend that this pattern is for an intermediate level of experience. This pattern is 16 pages in length.
The pattern consists of mainly sc stitches and the puff stitch. I have provided a detailed written and visual tutorial for the puff stitch with this pattern.
I have worked the front of the cushion cover in 5 separate sections which will all be joined together with a row of sc at the end. The back section is worked in two equal sections with buttonholes worked into one of those sections. Once you have the front section and 2 back sections completed, you can join the bag together in one continuous single crochet row around all 4 sides.
This pattern will fit a 55cm square cushion insert. Different yarn ply and hook size will give a different affect. The tension for the yarn I have used in this pattern is 15 stitches x 19 rows (10 x 10 cm sq) using a 5mm hook (USA: 8/H, UK: Size 6).
I used 2 balls of 200g cotton yarn for this project. If you purchased 100g yarn would need approximately 4 balls of yarn depending on the yarn. Any yarn that is a 10 ply cotton or cotton blend would be suited to this project. You can also use an 8 ply yarn but keep in mind the finished cushion cover will be smaller than the size indicators below.
3 x Buttons for closure at the back.
Darning needle to sew in ends.
