The Grim Reaper and his owl was inspired by an old legend about brown owls. Their “kiwit” sounds like the German “komm mit” (come with me). In ancient times, people believed if you heard that sound, you or somebody close to you would die in the near future.
When I did some more research on that, I found illustrations showing the Grim Reaper with an owl.
Also, many cultures believe that the Reaper is left-handed, so I decided that he should be the first in a series of famous left -handers
On more than 30 pages, you written instructions, many photos and one chart (skull).
New: A printerfriendly version with only 16 pages.
For advanced crocheters, stitches used: Chain, double crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, double treble, decrease, increase, back loop only and front loop only.

Schachenmayr Catania (100% cotton, 125 m/50g) : 1 skein /50g white (106), black (110), anthracite (429) and marone (157), leftovers in camel (179) and linen (248)
Hooks size 2,00 mm (body) and 3,00 mm (clothes)
Filling material
safety eyes, Ø8 mm and Ø5 mm
3 chenille wires, 50cm /20” long
1 button or bead Ø 7mm , sewing thread black, sewing needle
4 stitch markers
2 small safety pins or stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors, tweezers and small tongs
