Going back in time to when the first Saxon king, the overlord of Britain; King Alfred the Great. And with the Alfred the Great Tea Cosy Knitting Pattern, you can knit your own King tea cosy.
The tea cosy has Alfred stood in his medieval attire, in a smock and a cloak. I have chosen a 'middle ages' inspired colour pallet, assuming that the fabric dyes of the time were probably plant based dyes.
The crown on his head is a simple affair, just a band with a nod towards fleur-de-lis standing up from it.
The king is holding a board of burned cakes. There is a legend about King Alfred that says that he took refuge in a peasants house, and was asked to keep an eye on some bread cakes in the oven. But he forgot about them and they burnt, and the board of burnt cakes is a reference to that legend.
He's a lovely tea cosy that will appeal to people who love history and love to engage in armchair archology.
The Alfred the Great tea cosy fits a medium sized teapot that covers a Teapot that holds 6 to 8 cups.
The pattern will be available for digital download as soon as you have completed purchase, so you could start knitting him very soon!
