Free knitting Pattern patch for Patchwork Blanket “The Cable
These patches are super useful to knit a few in loads of different colours or different designs, (check my other blog entries for more Designs) and sew together to a beautiful Blanket.
(blanket is worked as an example with other patch designs available on my blog)
Material each patch: 5mm needles, Aran cotton yarn apr. 15gr
Yarn Gauge: 16st x 20rows
size approx.: 15 x 15 cm
even rows are front rows.
K=knit, p= purl, sl1p= slip one purlwise,
c4b= slip 2 st on holder and hold at back of the work, knit 2 and knit then the 2 from the holder.
C4f= same but hold the first 2 st at front
Nr 7: The cable
Cast on 24st.
1. - 3. Row: sl1p, 23k
4. Row: sl1p, 3k, 2p, 4k, 4p, 4k, 2p, 4k
5. Row: sl1p, 2k, 1p, 2k, 4p, 4k, 4p, 2k, 1p, 3k
6. Row: sl1p, 3k, 2p, c4b, 4p, c4f, 2p, 4k
7. Row: sl1p, 2k, 1p, 2k, 4p, 4k, 4p, 2k, 1p, 3k
8. Row: sl1p, 3k, 2p, 4k, 4p, 4k, 2p, 4k
9. Row: sl1p, 2k, 1p, 2k, 4p, 4k, 4p, 2k, 1p, 3k
10. -27. Row: Repeat rows 4-9 (another 3 times)
28. -30. Row: sl1p, 23 knit
Cast off
Work as many squares as you want for your blanket, (I would recommend ma min or 30 squares) lay down the squares the way you want them sewn together.
Sew together: for that lay both good sides on each other and sew through only the back loops to get a hidden join

Additionally, you could add a Crochet Border:
with 1 sc in each stitch and 2 sc 2 ch 2 sc in edges.
2. Row is a mussel stitch around, start with 10 dc in the edge, ***2 ch and jump over 2 stitches, 1 sc, jump over 2 stitches and 5 dc*** repeat till next edge and 10 dc in edge.
Sew in all threads and finish the Blanket.
