PATTERN: Randi Selbu Mittens ~ knitting strikke votter norsk

These mittens are traditional Norwegian Selbu mittens with a modern design. They are knitted in two colours in the round, and have a "fake entrelac" pattern on the cuff. The thumb is worked with gusset, and the pattern inside the hand continues seamlessly on the inside of the thumb.

In the pattern, you will find both written pattern and photographic tutorials and explanations, and it has a section filled with tips for achieving the best result. The colourwork is charted.

NB! This pattern contains two PDFs; one in English and one in Norwegian.

In addition to knitting two-stranded in the round, you will need to know basic knit and purl stitches, including increases and decreases. The thumb is gusseted, and the hand /thumb is charted. The pattern has a section with tips and explanations of different techniques.

The mittens are a standard women’s size.

Hand circumference: 23 cm /9"
Hand length: 20.5 cm / 8.1"

• Rauma Finull in two colours (~45 gr in main colour, ~30 gr contrast colour)

• Dpns size 3.0 mm (or size needed to achieve gauge)

• A bit of scrap yarn or stitch holder for thumb stitches

• Darning needle for weaving in ends
