Inspired by the reflections of the sky in a mountain lake surrounded by slate stones, I designed this pattern. First, I made a scarf (available in my store at: https://www.crazypatterns.net/en/items/104577/scarf-reflections-a-double-knitting-pattern) and a reversible hat (available in my store at: https://www.crazypatterns.net/en/items/104823/reversible-cap-reflections-a-double-knitting-pattern) and now I have the warmers to match.
Please don't be put off by the double knitting technique. Basically, anyone who knits purl and knit can easily learn the double face technique. If you are not yet familiar with the technique, you can find a free guide to learning the technique here: https://www.crazypatterns.net/en/items/97086/double-face-knitting-a-tutorial.
Knowledge required:
• Stitch cast-on
• Cast off
• Knitting knit and purl stitches
• Knitting with a needle set
• A little practice in knitting double face (I recommend learning my free double face knitting tutorial here: https://www.crazypatterns.net/en/items/97086/double-face-knitting-a-tutorial)
If you have this knowledge, you can knit these arm warmers. The stitch sequence is quickly memorized and is therefore easy to knit.
What you get:
You will receive 6 pages of instructions. The instructions include a clear counting pattern and a partially illustrated round-by-round description.
Level of difficulty:
Medium
If you can follow the exercises from my free basic school Double Face Knitting (https://www.crazypatterns.net/en/items/97086/double-face-knitting-a-tutorial) and have a little experience in knitting with a needle set, or if you have the patience to learn this while knitting the arm warmers, you can knit these arm warmers.
With knitting needles no. 3: 23 stitches = 10 cm wide. 31 rows = 10 cm high.
With this gauge, the arm warmers have a circumference of approx. 19 cm and a height of approx. 22 cm.
• Adriafil Genziana, 100% Merino (LL approx. 185m / 50g): 50g (= 1 ball) in medium melange grey (colour 083) and 50g (= 1 ball) in light blue (colour 09).
My total consumption for the arm warmers was 60g. Depending on your personal knitting style, consumption may vary slightly. These arm warmers can of course also be knitted with a different wool with a similar yardage. Make sure that the selected wool does not scratch. The same amount of wool is needed for both colours.
• Needle set no. 3.
• Sewing needle
• Scissors
