The YPS top is a simple summer top, easy to style and easy to wear. The name Yps is short for Ypsilon (the german word for the letter “Y”).
There are 2 variations of the YPS top pattern. The original version, Var 1, is the simple bottom-up version, while the new version, Var 2, is knitted top-down and includes some neat finishing elements such as I-cord edges. Find single PDF patterns for both versions.
For Var 2, you will start with a provisional cast-on and work the upper back triangle using short rows. After that, you split for the shoulders, which are knitted separately in garter stitch with a faux I-cord edging. For the front, both shoulder pieces are joined again, and after you have shaped the front triangle with short rows, all stitches - including the back stitches from the provisional cast-on - are joined in the round to knit the main body in stockinette. By working a split hem in garter stitch with faux I-cord edges, you create a neat finish.
