Here is a version of the popular Katniss scarf in the film the Hunger Games.
The original is (I think) needle bound and not knitted. I do not like the fit nor the backside of the original and the necessary wide collar is makes it cold on the neck.
This variant is knitted with a needle size10. The wool can be either super bulky (E.g. Bravo big Schachenmayr) or take a thinner yarn and knit with 2-3 yarn simultaneously.
I have worked with handspun merino wool and have needed 600gr. Less may be required, depending on the type of material.
The scarf is knitted crosswise with short rows. I thought that it is best understandable, if I write out every row, even if it is a short row.
There are several ways to knit short rows. I'm doing this with a yarn over, which is then knitted together with the following stich. Of course, you can choose a different version for short rows.
(He scarf can also worked with my wrong side as the right side, which you see in the picture.)
The pattern is actually not very difficult. You should be able to knit, purl and yarn over.
Difficulty: medium
Required materials:
Needle size 10
