The smell of a freshly baked apple pie on a cold winter afternoon inspired me to create this pattern. The grid of a traditional Dutch apple pie.
This scarf is wonderfully warm, feels flatteringly soft and is a real eye-catcher.
The motif is worked in double face technique, so the scarf looks beautiful on both sides. Please don't be put off by the double face technique. Basically, anyone who can knit left and right can easily learn the Double Face technique. If you are not yet familiar with the technique, you can find a free tutorial for learning the technique here: https://www.crazypatterns.net/en/items/97086/double-face-knitting-a-tutorial
The instructions for the scarf 'Sweet Memories' contain a clear pattern template and a simple description of the procedure for knitting the scarf.
Required knowledge:
• Cast on
• Cast off
• Knit right and purl stitches
• A little practice in knitting Double Face (I recommend my free tutorial to learn how to knit Double Face).
If you have this knowledge, you can knit this scarf. Since the pattern is not symmetrical, it needs concentration when knitting the pattern. With time, however, the stitch sequence is well memorized and can be knitted relatively relaxed.
What you get:
You get a 4-page tutorial with photos of the final product and the inspiration source. The instructions include a clear counting pattern and a simple description.
The *.pdf file contains the original German instructions as well as the translation in English and in Dutch.
Difficulty level:
Medium
Anyone who can knit the examples of my free tutorial for double-face knitting (https://www.crazypatterns.net/en/items/97086/double-face-knitting-a-tutorial) can knit this scarf too.
Stitch gauge:
Knitted in Double Face: 30 stitches = approx. 10 cm wide. 39 rules = approx. 10 cm high.
With this stitch sample, the scarf will be approx. 30 cm wide and approx. 160 cm long.
• Rico Design Luxury Lace (LL approx. 200m / 25g) 100g (= 4 balls) in white and 100g (= 4 balls) in black. My consumption was exactly 193g. Depending on your personal knitting style, the consumption may vary a bit. This scarf can of course also be knitted with another wool with a similar run length. Make sure that the selected wool does not scratch the neck. The same amount of wool is needed from both colours.
• Knitting needles #2½.
• Sewing needle
• Scissors
