You love the sea and its animals? If you want to bring a little vacation home, you can do this wonderfully with the potholders crocheted in doubleface technique. With this technique it is possible to crochet completely different motifs on both sides. The instructions for these potholders include 4 different shark designs (silhouette, dorsal fin, head, tail).
If you like needlework and also want to try a new technique, this tutorial is for you. The doubleface technique is not difficult to learn, but offers the possibility to create truly individual potholders. Whether for yourself or as a gift for someone who loves sharks and the ocean is up to you.
The special thing about these potholders is that you can create two completely different sides for one potholder. The technique also makes the potholders nice and thick and therefore insulating excellently. At the same time, you save on sewing the threads - except for the finish - as they are worked directly into the potholder.
If there is anything in the instructions that you do not understand or if you have any questions about the technique, please simply ask by e-mail.
Basic knowledge in crochet (chain stitch, single crochet, slip stitch) is required.
Level of difficulty: easy (for beginners)
Knowledge of the doubleface technique is not required. The technique is explained in detail in the instructions. If you are using this technique for the first time, you should first crochet a small test piece according to the instructions in order to grasp the principle. After that, implementation is not difficult anymore.
With this download you will receive a detailed, 18-page PDF file with the description and photos of the technique in German and English (US terminology). The description contains the graphic counting templates and colored number blocks for each row. In addition, instructions of the basic technique of doubleface crochet with enlarged photos and a video tutorial are provided. The files are for personal use only!
The finished pot holders have a size of approx. 19,5 cm x 19,5 cm.
To make a pair of potholders like the ones shown, you will need 2 balls of light blue and 1 ball of dark blue, with even color distribution (one side light background, one side dark background), 2 balls of wool in each of the two colors, i.e. a total of about 4 balls of wool (e.g. Schachenmayr Catania or comparable quality: 100 % cotton, length 125 m per 50 g) and a crochet hook that fits the thickness of the wool.
If you like my instructions, I will be happy to receive a positive review.
