Basket of Easter Eggs Tea Cosy

The Basket of Easter Eggs Tea Cosy is delightful and makes a great Easter centerpiece to tea times.

The Easter basket has five painted eggs inside, with assorted designs and colours. And there are four dark purple crocus flowers in and around the basket too.

For the knitter there are lots of interesting elements in this project. There are mock cables around the bottom edge and rim of the basket. The basket itself is actually woven knitting. Then the grassy lining in the basket is knitted in loopy stitch. The eggs have color change, intarsia and applique work on them, but you could knit plain eggs or use colour changing yarn to give your eggs stripes without the hassle of changing yarns.

This pattern is quite a challenge, you need to mark rows and knit into the back of stitches from previous rounds, you need to knit the loopy stitch, and you will be asked to knit short rows. The instarsia is worked from a chart, but you don't have to do the intarsia if you choose not to.
