Erich is mighty proud of his stylish goatee and elegantly curved horns. You might call him a little vain, but on the other hand, if there is a possibility to tackle any mountains, trees or interesting climbing frames on children‘s playgrounds, he doesn‘t care at all if he gets himself dirty or his goatee ruffled. Ever since he realized that goats are avid climbers, he emulates his cousins in the Alps, the Rockies, the Andes and the Himalayas, hoping that someday he will travel to one of these places with his human friend.
More information:
Choose any yarn you like or have left over – Erich will be bigger or smaller depending on the yarn. Sock yarn will be fine, but I prefer the softer merino yarn. If you knit Erich for a child, make sure the yarn is robust, washable and doesn’t pill too much. With the gauge 27 stitches x 38 rows = 10 x 10 cm = 4 x 4 inches Erich measures approximateley 42 cm = 17 inches from horns to hoofs.
The pattern will lead you step-by-step through the knitting, sewing and embroidering, including loads of detail photos and charts. Additionally, you’ll find instructions for the more elaborate techniques used like short rows German style and alike. PLEASE MIND: The animal is knitted in the ROUND, there is no instruction for flat knitting!
As the pattern is around in German language for quite a while, I realized that even beginners tried themselves on Erich and succeeded knitting him, but truth be told, you have more fun with Erich if you are used to knit in the round with double pointed needles.
I wish you happy knitting
Yours Steffi
