This pattern uses the Overlay Mosaic Crochet technique, it is not hard to learn if you have never done it before, I would suggest watching a few videos to practice with till you get the hang of it.

I would say this is a intermediate experience.
The finished Blanket size is approximately 68"x60", it will cover the top of a queen bed nicely. It is heavy and warm when finished.
