Post double crochet (US)/Post half double crochet (UK)
The name says what it means – this double crochet is used to form the shape of a relief. With this stitch you can crochet elastic cuffs or a plat (cable pattern). The difference between a post double crochet and a normal double crochet is how you fit the stitch. You have two different options for the post double crochet – the front post double crochet or the back post double crochet.
It is important that you remember to crochet post double crochet NOT into a chain of chains.
Front post double crochet (US) / front post half double crochet (UK):
Firstly cast on a chain of chains and crochet one row of double crochet.
Crochet 3 chain and turn. Get yarn over needle,
With the needle from the front into the body of the stitch,
Yarn over and pull through.
Now you have three loops on the hook.
Again get the yarn over and pull it through two loops.
Now you have two loops on the hook.
Yarn over and pull it through two loops.
Done!
Back post double crochet (US) / back post half double crochet (UK):

Crochet three chain and turn. Yarn over the needle,
Go with the needle from the back into the stitch,
Yarn over and pull it through.
