Materials:
Yarn of your choice (acrylic, wool or cotton). Colors: yellow, white.
I used acrylic yarn, 200 m/50 g. The size of the chicks is the size of a hen's egg.
- For eyes: a small amount of white yarn, 2 half-beads, I used 6mm diam half-beads
- For paws and beak: a small amount of orange or red colour yarn of the same thickness or slightly thinner.
- For bow and bow tie: a small amount of red and black colour yarn
- A crochet hook, I have 1,5 mm crochet hook
- Hollow fibre for stuffing
- A sewing needle, matching sewing threads
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc - double crochet
tr - treble crochet
inc – increase (2 sc in 1 st)
2 inc – 2 increases in sequence
dec – decrease (single crochet two stitches together)

Let's go back to the white colour thread and make the shell edges (cloves). Alternate between a small clove and a large one.
Work into the front half loops left in the 9th round.
in 1 loop: 1 hdc and 1 dc, 1 ch, into the next loop: 1 dc and 1 hdc, - this is a small clove, continue 2 sl st, into the next loop: 1 hdc and 1 dc, into the next loop: 1 tr, 1 ch and 1 tr, into the next loop: 1 dc and 1 hdc, 2 sl st- this is a large clove. Alternate them to the end of the round. Fasten the thread off, hide the tip.
Return to the Rnd 20. Change to white colour yarn. Fasten off and cut off the yellow yarn.

Bind off, cut off any excess yarn. Pull off the loops, hide the end.
Turn the egg upside down. Attach the white colour thread to the front half-loops of Rnd 22. Make the shell edges (cloves).

Chicken paws (make 2)
Work with orange colour yarn.

1) starting from 2nd ch from hook: 4 sl st, 5 ch, starting from 2nd ch from hook: 4 sl st, 5 ch, starting from 2nd ch from hook: 4 sl st, continue along the loops at the beginning of a chain: 3 sl st
Fasten off, cut off.
Beak
Work with orange colour yarn.

1) starting from 2nd ch from hook: 1 sl st, in 1 loop: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 ch, 1 hdc, 1 sc, into the last loop 1 sl st, continue along the other side of the chain: 1 sl st, in 1 loop: 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 ch, 1 dc, 1 hdc, into the last loop 1 sl st.
Fasten off, cut off.
Eyes (make 2)
Work with white colour yarn
1) 6 sc in a Magic Ring
2) 6 inc (12)
Fasten off, cut off.
Attach the eyes, beak with dressmaking pins. Sew them on.
Glue the pupils on – use black half-beads.
Sew on the paws.
Decorate with a bow or tie.
Bow or bow tie.

Tie it in the middle with a thread, secure and fasten off. Sew on a bow.
