ABOUT THIS DESIGN
I wanted a huge, cozy sweater that embraces me on cold days. No frills, easy and quick to knit: Et voilà: here it is! This project is perfect to hold different blow yarns or fluffy leftovers together which makes it light while keeping you warm. Using large needles it knits up quite quickly. It’s great for beginner knitters and fun for the more advanced as well.
CONSTRUCTION
This pullover is a seamless top-down construction. Start at the top edge of the back with a provisional cast-on, then work short rows for shoulder shaping. Work flat until armhole depth is reached. Provisionally cast on right and left front separately, and shape shoulders and neckline. Join the front pieces, then work flat to armhole depth. Put the shoulder stitches back on needles for a modified 3-needle bind-off and an exposed seam. Then, put all body stitches on a needle and continue straight down in rounds, working a split hem and binding off with an I-Cord. Pick up stitches from the armholes and knit the sleeves in rounds. Finally, the neckline is finished with an I-cord.
FIT
Very oversized and casual fit, with dropped shoulders, straight sleeves and a round neck.
There is no shaping in this garment. This sweater has a lot of positive ease built in. This means that the finished garment will be much bigger than your bust measurement.
Body and sleeve length can be adjusted according to your wishes.
LEVEL:
intermediate / advanced knitters (or adventurous beginners)
You should be able to follow written instructions an ideally have experience in the techniques mentioned above.
There are links to YouTube tutorials for all special stitches and techniques.
WHAT YOU WILL GET:
The pattern (11 pages, PDF) includes:
SIZES:
(1 / 2 / 3) (4 / 5 / 6)
FINISHED BUST CIRCUMFERENCE:
(120 / 132 / 148) (156 / 168 / 176) cm | (47.25 / 52 / 58.25) (61.5 / 66.25 / 69.25)“
Recommended positive ease: approx. 30–50 cm | 11.75–19.75“.
Shown in size 3 on a 94 cm | 37” bust (approx. 54 cm | 21.25” of positive ease)
To pick your best size, measure your full bust or around the widest point of your body circumference, and add your desired ease, then pick the finished bust circumference closest to that number from above.
YARN SUGGESTION
My samples show size 3 with a finished bust of 148 cm | 61.5”. I held three yarns together.
This pullover is a great stash buster holding 2, 3 or more strands of yarn together, as long as you achieve gauge.
GAUGE
10 stitches x 13 rows/rounds = 10 x 10 cm | 4” in Stockinette Stitch | using a 10.0 mm (US 15) needle | measured before washing/blocking
