Scottish Diamonds is my first design born out of my love to Scotland. The different variations of the green colours remind me to Scotlands greenest hills The “diamonds” for me are the nice people, the lakes, the castles, the Highland Cows and – not to forget – the Scottish Single Malt. What would it be for you? If you would like to share your thoughts just drop me a note hallo@wollfimmel.com Happy Knitting - I hope you are having a as nice thoughts as I had with that project. Please contact me in case you have any questions regarding the pattern.
I knitted the shawl in two parts as I wanted to have the lace direction similar on both sides – and I was too lazy for convertion. In the end I grafted both parts together.
I have chosen a combination of Mohair and Merino Lace as it gives a nice texture to the shawl with a kind of airiness – perfect for everything.
If you like the scarf a bit longer or shorter you just need to vary the pattern repeats.
Yarn A: 26 sts and 38 rows = 4" in stockinette stitch, using size 3 needles in Germany (there is no US needle size. It is in between 2 and 3). I´m a bit more loose knitter. Yarn B has the same amount of stitches but 50 rows in the diamond lace pattern.
Gauge ist not important but could affect size and yardage requirements.
The pattern is for intermediate knitters due to the lace part. You can always ask me for advice.
The following basics would be of an advantage
• knit and purl stitches
• Yarn Over
• Knit stitches together
• Grafting
My Scottish Diamond is around 48cm (18,9 inch) wide and 174cm (68,5 inch) long.
If you like the scarf a bit longer or shorter you just need to vary the pattern repeats.
