Pattern: Colorways - Swoncho

An individually adaptable pattern for a versatile knitted swoncho (poncho sweater/pullover), designed by Birgit Freyer.

Casual, wide and comfortable like a poncho, having sleeves like a sweater: The Swoncho (a cross between sweater and poncho) is knitted top-down. Stockinette parts, garter ribs and eyelet rows can be combined according to your personal taste to showcase the colourways of your variegated yarn perfectly. At the end, the sleeves are directly knitted on, so that there's no sewing involved!
The size can be easily adapted to individual measurements.

For the original sample shown in the picture, Filace Moira with its wonderfully individual colour changes has been used. The original yarn can be substituted by any variegated yarn in a similar weight.

The pattern contains charts.

Please note: This pattern contains detailed instructions about the construction and shaping, as well as charts for the ridges and eyelet rows. The distribution of the ridges and eyelet rows is up to your choice. On the last page of the pattern, you will find detailed examples.

The pattern (a pdf file) contains 6 pages, including a photo, schematic drawings, charts and detailed explanations about the construction and shaping of the garment.

Needle size: 4.0 to 4.5 mm (US size 6 to 7, UK size 8 to 7)

Notions: measuring tape, stitch markers, contrasting thread (or additional cables from interchangeable needle systems) to place stitches on hold, scissors, needle for sewing in threads.
