Face (optional)
Should you decide to make a face, draw the eyes and smile on a piece of white cardboard. Make a draft with a pencil and then draw it around with gel ink pens. Leave to dry and cover it with some transparent varnish. Leave to dry. Cut the parts out. Glue them onto the cosy. Embroider the eyebrows. You may also choose to embroider a winking eye.
Grass
Take a cardboard egg box, cut out as many egg cells as required. It’s 4 in my case. Cut off any protruding parts. You will need to make a square piece of ‘grass’ as follows:
Measure the width and the length of the box, I received 10cm х 10cm. Measure the height. I had 3cm. Now multiply the height you received by 2.
3cm × 2 = 6 cm in my case.
Add this result to each side of the square. It’s 16cm × 16cm in my case.
Work in rows, crochet loosely, so that you could cover the egg box with the ‘grass’ without any effort.
Make as many chains as required. I had 41 ch.
Row 1. Starting from 2nd ch from hook: 40 sc, ch, turn
Row 2-40. 40 sc, ch, turn.
Cut off yarn, fasten off.
Work a wide needle forward stitch around the edge of the square. See the photo for guidance. Tighten it slightly and put the square onto the egg box same as you do when you put a hat onto the head. Make a knot and hide the ends of thread inside.
Place the eggs into the cells, dress them as carrots.
Your Easter décor is completed!
