Just like wrapping yourself in a cloud this comfy shawl knits up quickly. Knitted in DK weight yarn using only garter stitch it gains interest through the use of color, creating garter stripes and changing colors during rows to achieve the reversed look of the borders. Shawl body and left side border are knitted in one piece, the right side border is knitted on sideways.
The shawl is asymmetric and can be worked to any size and worn with right or wrong side facing.
The pattern lends itself to being knit from different yarns though you would need to adjust yardage to suit.
Difficulty level: Advanced beginner (mostly garter stitch, increases, decreases, changing colors during rows)
Gauge: 16 stitches/32 rows in garter stitch = 10cm/4in.
150 x 45cm (60 x 18in)
Yarn: Steinbach Eroica (55% nylon, 45% wool; 114m/50g; 125yds/1.76oz); 2 different colors, 3 balls each. Sample used 257m (281yds) of each color.
Needles: 5mm/US 8 circular needles
Notions: yarn needle, 1 stitch marker
