Mousse au chocolat is a cowl designed to use two different colors of an aran weight yarn. Dark brown for the chocolate, the white to symbolize that extra portion of cream that makes you feel warm on cool days. Of course you can create your own mousse, using colors that are to your taste.
There are two ways to work this cowl. You can knit it in the round or knit it flat and join with buttons, when it requires buttonholes and buttons.
There are instructions for both longer and shorter versions. A small chart for the pattern repeat is included.
Difficulty Level: Advanced beginner (knitting in the round on circular needles for the knit-in-the-round version, buttonholes for the flat version, easy lace stitches).
Gauge: 16 stitches/32 rows in pattern = 10cm/4in.
65/130cm (26/52in) in circumference, 22cm (8 3/4in) in width.
Yarn: Online Linie 130 Champ (100% merino wool, 70m/50g; 77yds/1.76oz); 2-3 balls in each color, depending on size. The long sample used 152m (166yds) of color 1 and 163m (179yds) of color 2. The short and buttoned sample used 88m (96yds) of color 1 and 96m (105yds) of color 2.
Needles: 5.5mm/US 9 circular needle (60cm/24in for the short, 80cm/32in for the long version).
Notions: Yarn needle; 1 stitch marker needed for the in-the-round version, 4 buttons in size 2cm (3/4in) for the flat version.
